DOL TAP Senior Employment Navigator - Fort Benning, GA
Join our team to assist and prepare approximately 200,000 servicemembers who separate annually from the United States Military as they begin a new chapter as civilians. The Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) program requires contractor services to support transitioning servicemembers through its Transition Assistance Program (TAP), offered worldwide. This includes conducting job assistance workshops, providing employment counseling, and connecting servicemembers with approved government and non-government partners.
About the role
The Senior Employment Navigator will support the Employment Navigator and Partnership Program (ENPP) and report to a Regional Manager. This is an in-office, client-facing position with set office hours. You will assist servicemembers and their spouses in transitioning to civilian occupations through individual counseling, career exploration, and translating military experience into skills desired by employers. The role also involves proactive marketing and outreach efforts, including presentations, informational tabling, networking, and relationship development.
Responsibilities
- Listen to servicemembers and spouses, analyze their expressed needs, suggest solutions, and assist with refining career action plans.
- Provide job search guidance, career advice, and ensure access to available employment-related resources.
- Assist with job matching by aligning servicemembers’ skills with job vacancy requirements.
- Provide labor market information, identify companies and industries in specific areas, and offer advice on job applications.
- Help clients identify necessary credentials and develop a path to fill qualification gaps through credentialing.
- Assist with Career Readiness Standards (CRS) verification and serve as the DOL initial point of contact for warm handovers.
- Connect transitioning servicemembers and spouses to DOL-approved government and non-government partners, as well as American Job Centers and State Workforce Agencies.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of current labor market information.
- Provide resume and cover letter advice.
- Offer general information on apprenticeships, describe Registered Apprenticeship Programs, and guide clients through tools for researching apprenticeship opportunities.
- Assist with training and mentoring Employment Navigators and provide site management support with sound organizational and leadership skills.
- Promote services using approved messages and materials to enhance program awareness and conduct ongoing marketing and outreach to potential clients.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma and 5 years of military Transition Assistance Program (TAP) experience, or a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of employment or career counseling experience.
- Knowledge of the civilian workplace, translating military skills and language, assessing the job market, and researching/interpreting job requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications and virtual meeting platforms.
- Ability to work effectively with the military community.
- Strong coordination skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience speaking in front of groups and engaging audiences.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.

Pay
The salary range for this position is provided at the top of the posting and varies based on factors such as role scope, relevant experience, job-related knowledge, education, training, key skills, and geographic market considerations. Eligible positions may also include annual bonuses or long-term incentive opportunities.
