Key Responsibilities
- Aid in the creation, maintenance, and updates of BOMs, including processing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Product Change Orders (PCOs).
- Develop, revise, and maintain CAD drawings using Autodesk tools (AutoCAD/Inventor preferred).
- Create detailed part, assembly, and line drawings for prototype and production use.
- Record dimensions, fabrication methods, and storage locations within drawings.
- Maintain accurate and organized engineering drawing files across all product lines.
- Generate and issue CAM files for CNC and plasma cutting equipment.
- Create optimized part nesting layouts to improve material usage and minimize waste.
- Support new product development by documenting prototype builds, monitoring design implementation, and capturing changes required prior to production release.
- Afford assistance in ensuring product compliance with NMMA, ABYC, and USCG standards and regulations.
- Contribute to the documentation and tracking of new product designs and engineering changes.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager or Supervisor.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor preferred).
- Working knowledge of bills of materials and engineering documentation processes.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general engineering-related software tools.
- Continuous Improvement commitment to maintaining a clean, organized workspace and contributing to ongoing process improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications & Certifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in an engineering documentation, drafting, or manufacturing support role (marine or transportation industry preferred).
- Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Familiarity with CNC machining, plasma cutting processes, and nesting software.
- Working knowledge of marine industry standards (NMMA, ABYC, USCG regulations).
- Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in AutoCAD or Inventor.
- Certification in CAD drafting/design or equivalent technical training.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement training (e.g., Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt preferred).
- Basic understanding of ERP systems and manufacturing workflows.
