Engineering Technician
Job Overview
About the role
The Engineering Technician is responsible for testing wiring devices and components to ensure they meet the specified quality and performance standards of the Engineering Department and/or certification agencies.
Responsibilities
- Set up routine electrical and mechanical test equipment for the testing of wiring devices and/or components.
- Build test fixtures and test equipment as requested by supervisor.
- Perform standards and special tests on wiring devices and/or components thereof.
- Record the results and write lab reports on the tests that were performed.
- Assist certification agency representatives in the inspection and testing of wiring devices and their associated products.
- Assist supervisor in maintenance of, repair of, calibration of the construction of test lab equipment.
- Perform related duties as requested by Supervisor, Engineering Test Lab.
Requirements
- High school graduate with two or more years of technical education or equivalent.
- Ability to read basic measuring instruments, simple blueprints, and simple schematics.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to read, write and understand basic technical English.
- Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Proven time management skills and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks effectively.
- Exceptional judgment and common sense.
- Results-oriented with a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
- Process improvement skills preferred.
