Position Overview
The Electrical Technician will be part of the new product development team, supporting electrical engineers and cross-functional project teams through hands-on prototype assembly, modification, testing, troubleshooting, board programming, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, modify, test, and troubleshoot circuit boards, cable assemblies, electrical control equipment, and prototype systems under engineering direction.
- Perform PWA assembly and rework, including soldering components, replacing parts, adding jumper wires, cutting traces, and completing other board-level modifications.
- Build, modify, and repair cable, wire, and harness assemblies used in prototype systems, development equipment, and product testing.
- Install, replace, and integrate electrical assemblies, circuit boards, wiring, sensors, and related hardware in prototype equipment and development systems.
- Use schematics, wiring diagrams, and test equipment to identify electrical issues and help verify corrective actions under engineering guidance.
- Set up and operate electrical test equipment, programming tools, and lab instruments such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, meters, logic analyzers, and related devices.
- Support circuit board programming, board bring-up, functional verification, prototype testing, and engineering debug activities.
- Create, update, and maintain engineering support documentation such as wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, work instructions, test records, task records, ECOs, component records, and related ERP, PLM, Jira, or workflow information.
- Communicate status clearly, follow through on assigned tasks with appropriate urgency, and assist with improvements to lab, documentation, and workflow processes that support team efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
- 2-year technical degree, or comparable training, such as a military electronics program.
- 2+ years of electrical, electronics, or electromechanical technician experience in a development, test, manufacturing, or prototype environment.
- Hands-on experience assembling, modifying, testing, or troubleshooting circuit boards, cable assemblies, or electromechanical systems.
- Experience with soldering, electrical assembly, board-level modifications, or electronics rework activities.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Experience using electrical lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies, or related test instruments.
- Ability to communicate clearly, work effectively with engineers and technicians, and follow through on assigned tasks with attention to detail.
- Must be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related technical field.
- Experience performing SMT rework, fine-pitch soldering, jumper-wire modifications, trace cuts, part replacement, or other PCBA modifications.
- Experience supporting engineering prototype builds, board bring-up, hardware troubleshooting, or product development activities.
- Experience with schematic or layout viewers and engineering workflow systems such as ERP, PLM, ECO, or Jira.
- Experience with smart card, RFID, NFC, printing, motion control, test fixtures, sensors, motors, or other electromechanical systems.
- Openness to learning and applying modern tools, including AI-assisted tools, to improve documentation, task tracking, troubleshooting, and workflow efficiency.
