Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair commercial/industrial overhead doors, dock levelers, dock seals/shelters, vehicle restraints, gates, and related equipment.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to identify issues and determine corrective actions.
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance in accordance with company and manufacturer guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve emergency service issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Complete accurate service tickets, work orders, and documentation using mobile service software.
- Maintain company tools, vehicle, and equipment in clean and safe working condition.
- Provide exceptional customer service, communicating clearly in person and through email with facility managers and customers on recommended repairs and project updates.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety protocols and OSHA standards.
- Assist with training junior technicians as needed.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years' experience working as a commercial dock and door technician (or similar mechanical/industrial role).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience installing and servicing major brands.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs, work at heights, and handle physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Preferred Skills
- Certifications such as IDEA, OSHA 10/30, Welding, or manufacturer-specific technical training.
- Experience with low-voltage wiring and control systems.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Field-based role requiring travel to customer sites.
- Occasional overtime, on-call rotations, or emergency service work may be required.
