About the role

The Division of Neonatology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals San Francisco/Oakland is recruiting faculty at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank in the Adjunct, Clinical X, Health Sciences (HS) Clinical, or In Residence series. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Department’s mission of excellence in research, education, and patient care.
  • May include clinical duties at UCSF locations in San Francisco and Oakland, as well as other UCSF-affiliated sites.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree, with eligibility for medical licensure in California.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. For recent fellowship graduates, board eligibility is acceptable with the expectation of timely certification.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, or equivalent fellowship training with eligibility for board certification in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Experience teaching and supervising learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity—peer-reviewed publications, clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, or presentations at national meetings.
  • Interest or experience in academic pediatrics, including curriculum development, leadership, or program building.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative, multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Additional expertise or focus in areas such as neonatal transport, neurocritical care, palliative care, or global health.

Pay

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $114,100-$344,400. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
