About the role

The Department of Pediatrics at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time outstanding academic Neonatologist to serve as the Chief of the Division of Neonatal Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Education: Faculty member will have experience in mentoring and guiding fellows and faculty and have teaching responsibilities within the clinical services of the division. Faculty member will provide teaching and mentorship to medical students, Residents, Chief Residents, and Fellows when applicable including oversight of the Program Director of fellowship training in development of curriculum for maintenance of the accreditation of the Fellowship Training Program.
  • Research: Faculty member will have experience in successful research and will participate in scholarly research activities that can include basic science, clinical, translational, or other research endeavors.
  • Service: Faculty member will serve as a role model in divisional, departmental, or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, and engage in professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, committee work at the national level etc.
  • Clinical: Faculty member will serve as an expert clinical Neonatologist for the Division in the Department of Pediatrics including attendance and oversight of Delivery Room services, Transport etc. Clinical schedule will include weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Administrative: Faculty member will take on administrative duties associated with this role.

Requirements

  • NRP certification
  • Board certified in Pediatrics and board certified in Neonatal Medicine
  • Expertise in Neonatal Perinatal clinical care
  • Leadership experience in a regional Perinatal Center, level IV NICU and Division within an academic medical center
  • Experience with successful scholarly research activities
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Qualifications

  • Expertise in Neonatal Perinatal clinical care
  • Leadership experience in a regional Perinatal Center, level IV NICU and Division within an academic medical center
  • Experience with successful scholarly research activities
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
