Diving Coach

About the role

The Diving Coach is a part-time, on-site role based in West Hartford, CT, responsible for coaching and developing student-athletes in the diving program.

Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts regular practices
• Teaches proper diving techniques and safety
• Designs training sessions that support competitive performance
• Provides individual and group instruction
• Maintains athlete progress
• Collaborates with the head swim coach and athletics staff on meet preparation and team strategy
• Safeguards equipment and facility use related to diving activities
• Promotes sportsmanship and academic balance
• Ensures compliance with NCAA Division III and university policies

Qualifications

• Demonstrated coaching experience in diving, with strong knowledge of technical skills, training methods, and safety practices
• Ability to plan and lead effective practices, provide clear instruction, and offer constructive feedback to student-athletes
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills to support a diverse group of students in both athletic and personal development
• Understanding of NCAA Division III rules and regulations, with a commitment to compliance and student-athlete well-being
• Organizational and time-management skills to balance practice planning, meet preparation, and administrative responsibilities
• Previous experience competing or coaching at the collegiate, club, or high school level is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Physical Education, Sport Management, or similar) or equivalent combination of education and experience is beneficial
• CPR, First Aid, and lifeguard or safety certifications are highly desirable
