About the role
The Diving Coach is a part-time, on-site role based in West Hartford, CT, responsible for coaching and developing student-athletes in the diving program.
Responsibilities
- Plans and conducts regular practices
- Teaches proper diving techniques and safety
- Designs training sessions that support competitive performance
- Provides individual and group instruction
- Maintains athlete progress
- Collaborates with the head swim coach and athletics staff on meet preparation and team strategy
- Safeguards equipment and facility use related to diving activities
- Promotes sportsmanship and academic balance
- Ensures compliance with NCAA Division III and university policies
Qualifications
- Demonstrated coaching experience in diving, with strong knowledge of technical skills, training methods, and safety practices
- Ability to plan and lead effective practices, provide clear instruction, and offer constructive feedback to student-athletes
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills to support a diverse group of students in both athletic and personal development
- Understanding of NCAA Division III rules and regulations, with a commitment to compliance and student-athlete well-being
- Organizational and time-management skills to balance practice planning, meet preparation, and administrative responsibilities
- Previous experience competing or coaching at the collegiate, club, or high school level is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Physical Education, Sport Management, or similar) or equivalent combination of education and experience is beneficial
- CPR, First Aid, and lifeguard or safety certifications are highly desirable
