About the role

This role is based in either Columbus, Cincinnati, or Dayton, Ohio. As a District Sales Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out sales objectives, implementing sales and account strategies as set out by management, and achieving results in a matrix sales organization. You will focus on the discovery, development, and realization of project opportunities within your sales district, soliciting new customers and contractors to increase demand for products while cultivating long-term relationships with key account decision makers.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of sales and account strategies aligned with corporate goals; develop and implement Key Account Plans for strategic accounts to exceed revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction expectations.
  • Increase demand for company products by discovering, developing, and realizing project opportunities in CRM; prospect and solicit new business partners; maintain a cycle of scheduled calls and visits based on CRM segmentation strategy.
  • Cultivate long-term relationships with key account decision makers and develop a complete understanding of their organization’s structure and buying influences.
  • Conduct sales calls and deliver professional presentations to cross-functional teams, architects, wholesale distributors, builders, developers, facility engineers, plant managers, code officials, educators, and contractors.
  • Advance market growth by understanding, adapting, and communicating the value proposition for each constituent group.
  • Own and manage the annual sales plan and strategic account plans to achieve market penetration across segments and territories.
  • Work with local independent manufacturer’s representative agencies as directed by the Regional Sales Manager or Lead in support of the Residential Sales Management Team.
  • Travel to provide ongoing training and support as needed; receive and prioritize leads from trade shows or other sources.
  • Provide support to cross-functional teams to ensure client deliveries are executed as agreed; contribute to the adoption of EDI and VMI by distributors within the district.
  • Maintain monthly sales reports, business metrics, and weekly updates for management; prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports on field activity, sales, competitors, and forecasts.
  • Track travel and incidental expenses; submit expense reports on time and within budget parameters.
  • Maintain and update CRM/SAP Mobile Sales daily activity calendars, including documenting opportunities, sales call activities, linking customers, ranking contractors, and keeping calendars current.
  • Attend meetings as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of product sales experience; college degree preferred.
  • Valid and active driver’s license required.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Skills

  • Knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SAP, and CRM.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; good listening skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong relationship-building and strategic selling skills; proven track record in business development, including effective sales call planning and execution.
  • Business acumen to meet revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Ability to interpret and forecast changes in customers’ buying patterns and product requirements.
  • Ability to function autonomously or as a team player; self-motivated and comfortable working from a home office.
  • Ability to identify market dynamics and implement competitive practices.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, profit margins, unit conversions, percentages, area, and volume.
  • Ability to give presentations in front of various groups and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to acquire and recruit new customers; drive sales results with the installer segment.
  • Ability to travel to meet customer expectations and internal requirements.
  • Commitment to superior service, reflecting a positive company image and sustaining a positive attitude.
  • Adherence to the highest standards of quality while performing at the highest possible level.
  • Understanding of the construction bid and specification project process, as well as the commercial construction market and various buying influences.

Pay

Base salary range: $84,357 to $110,718 USD annually, based on education, work experience, and geographic market. This role is eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program.
