DISPATCHER-POLICE

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Sends and receives radio transmissions from sworn and non-sworn field units and surrounding agencies.
• Answers the telephone and determines the form of assistance required.
• Affirms units within the department respond or refer the call to other sources for resolution.
• Performs multi-tasking priorities.
• Maintains knowledge of all required department policies and procedures.
• Operates the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center/National Crime Information Center (ACJIC/NCIC) terminal and becomes certified on the same.
• Operates equipment in the Communications Center.
• Rotates on all shifts and all days of the week, at the discretion of the Communications Supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• The ability to type at a speed of twenty-five (25) words per minute is required.
