Responsibilities
- Assign emergency and non-emergency gas service orders to field technicians at both Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas Companies, including gas leaks, carbon monoxide calls, explosions, fires, and No Gas complaints.
- Provide critical gas facility information and customer information to Service and Distribution Department field technicians at both PGL and NSG.
- Conduct well-being checks on field employees and request assistance from private security firms as well as Police and Fire Departments to ensure the safety of our employees and customers.
- Use multiple computer systems and communicate with field technicians via radio console and telephone.
- Work evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays with minimal supervision.
- Multi-task during periods of high call volume.
- Overtime is mandatory based on departmental needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, HSED, or GED.
- 3+ years of Operations experience in the utility industry, emergency management, operational compliance, or contact center environment.
- 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft applications.
- 3+ years of business-related experience with customer interaction.
Qualifications (Preferred)
- 1+ years of experience with Open C (emergency classification system and knowledge), PCAD, or Navigate.
- Familiarity with the city of Chicago street layout.
This position is expected to remain open until 08/28/2026.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $32.90 to $49.35 per hour. The starting salary within the pay range will be based on relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.
