About the role

The Dispatcher position at PARR is responsible for scheduling deliveries and credit returns efficiently. This role involves coordinating with sales, yard personnel, and customers to ensure smooth operations. The successful candidate will also hold themselves and their team accountable for maintaining a clean and organized yard, ensuring timely pickup of credit returns, and managing backorders effectively.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently schedule delivery orders and credit returns
• Communicate with sales about delivery needs
• Provide yard personnel with delivery invoices
• Assist drivers with challenges on their routes
• Ensure credit returns are picked up in a timely manner
• Schedule backorders to prioritize them
• Conduct regular ride-alongs with drivers and job shadowing in the yard
• Acknowledge team members' great work
• Proactively seek ways to improve damage and cull figures
• Manage Outlook and personal notebook
• Complete required Blue-Volt training in a timely manner
• Remain current on federal and state laws regarding interstate commerce and commercial motor vehicle operations
• Open and close the yard as needed
• Avoid overlength and overweight permits when possible
• Ensure all paperwork, licenses, permits, insurance certificates, and truck books are orderly and up-to-date
• Work to improve truck turn times in the yard
• Facilitate group discussions with key members for best practices
• Seek out product transactions and order history
• Use the interyard transfer system
• Prepare and submit monthly fuel and mileage reports
• Assist the Fleet Manager in maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-trained staff of drivers
• Complete Falcon order entry as needed
• Review daily equipment inspections weekly (trucks, brakes, cranes, trailers)
• Maintain a comfortable and safe working environment for all employees
• Bring safety issues to the attention of the proper department
• Follow all company safety protocols
• Arrive on time and prepared to work
• Seek and prioritize cross-training opportunities
• Help set goals and meet company deadlines for the team
• Contribute ideas to make things better and accept ideas from any source

Qualifications

• Ability to speak, write, and read English
• OSHA Certified Forklift License
• One year dispatching experience
• Ability to type 30+ WPM
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Knowledge of dispatching and fleet management principles, practices, and protocols
• Knowledge of dimension lumber and panel products and other building materials
• Knowledge of home and commercial construction principles, practices, and protocols
• Ability to read and interpret maps
