Responsibilities

• Answer customer and driver calls in a timely and professional manner
• Schedule and track orders and deliveries
• Prepare daily schedule for next-day deliveries outlining equipment, personnel, and material needed
• Coordinate deliveries with customers, sales, quality control, operators and other personnel as required regarding special materials needed, customer requirements, plant, and material availability
• Maintain working knowledge of city streets and surrounding areas to assist drivers in locating specific job sites
• Schedule, dispatch and control the appropriate level of drivers required to satisfy customer demand while maintaining safety and efficiency goals established by the company
• Must be able to work overtime and varying shifts including early mornings, late afternoons and Saturdays
• Record accurate delivery and product information on orders, negotiate delivery times with customers
• Enter daily time for all drivers utilizing a time entry system
• Attention to detail is imperative to accurately record delivery and product information into command dispatch system with ability to negotiate delivery times with customers
• Must be able to perform in high call volume situations while multitasking with plants, team members in the office while sitting for long periods of time
• Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions
• Promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material

Qualifications

• Safety-minded professional who demonstrates good performance and attendance
• Must pass pre-employment controlled substance testing
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows applications
• Demonstrates the ability to perform work efficiently utilizing different pieces of software
• Demonstrates the ability to do basic math
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel via telephone and two-way radio
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision
• Demonstrates a willingness to work overtime and weekends
• Demonstrates ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators and other employees
• Demonstrates the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions
• Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• Previous related experience in a construction environment and/or trucking preferred

Work Environment

• Office setting
• This position is largely sedentary; however, caution needs to be taken when lifting files, boxes, opening file cabinet drawers
• To avoid injuries to hands, back, and neck, proper ergonomics should be maintained while working at desk/workstation
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time

Pay

$25.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience, with potential for overtime
