Dispatcher
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary control point for all customer field deliveries and returns, ensuring timely and accurate execution of each order.
- Organize and coordinate daily shipping activities using approved freight carriers to optimize efficiency and service levels.
- Gather, review, and reconcile all shipping documents for accuracy prior to submitting them to the Accounts Receivable team.
- Provide the Shipping Supervisor with detailed daily schedules for outbound customer loads, including timing, carrier information, and load details.
- Work closely with field superintendents to plan, schedule, and adjust deliveries and returns based on operational needs.
- Generate pick lists for staging to ensure that materials and products are ready for shipment according to schedule.
- Dispatch equipment, vehicles, and personnel as needed to support field operations and customer requirements.
- Perform accurate and timely data entry related to shipments, dispatch activities, and logistics records.
- Deliver dispatch customer service by responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and communicating clearly with internal teams and external partners.
- Provide general administrative support to the shipping and logistics functions, including filing, documentation, and record maintenance.
- Apply knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations when scheduling and dispatching deliveries.
Requirements
- Diploma required.
- 2–3+ years of dispatch experience, specifically within the transportation industry.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating field deliveries and returns in a high-volume shipping environment.
- Working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations applicable to transportation and shipping.
- Proficiency in data entry and maintaining accurate logistics and dispatch records.
- Experience providing dispatch customer service and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to organize daily shipping activities and utilize approved freight carriers efficiently.
- Experience generating pick lists and coordinating staging for outbound loads.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in an organization with approximately $30M in annual shipping revenue is preferred.
- Familiarity with TITAN system or similar logistics or dispatch software.
- Understanding of the competitive landscape in the market, including knowledge of major industry competitors.
- Strong administrative support skills, including document management and scheduling.
- Able to work collaboratively with field superintendents, shipping supervisors, and other operational staff.
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational and time management skills.
Work Environment
This role is 100% onsite and follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime work routine. The position operates within a shipping and logistics environment that emphasizes coordination between field operations, dispatch, and administrative functions.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bondurant, IA.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
