Dispatcher

About the role

The Dispatcher plays a crucial role in managing container movements efficiently, ensuring timely delivery and coordination with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Communicates daily with Customers, Drivers, Steamship Terminal Personnel, and internal service representatives; coordinating, troubleshooting, and resolving issues.
• Covers pick-ups and deliveries with Drivers, partner carriers, rail operators, and port operators.
• Maintains customer service levels and meets deadlines, ensuring no service failures occur.
• Records and audits all documents for equipment tracking, tracks, traces, and reports container activity.
• Updates relevant systems to track appointments and drays, authorizes equipment drops, monitors container idling, and communicates company policies and procedures to Drivers.
• Maintains a positive rapport with customers, Terminal Operators, and Drivers, processes and completes all assigned documentation, and supports the company's commitment to Integrated Management Systems (IMS) certifications.
• Supports Customer Service and other office personnel in handling day-to-day duties required by management.
• Aids in the promotion of Driver safety compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• High School Diploma/GED; College degree preferred.
• 1+ years’ experience either in dispatching, customer service, and/or intermodal transportation.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and web-based software.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $23-$25 per hour. The Company may adjust this range based on market conditions and other factors.
