About the role
This is a rewarding position in training and mentoring at-risk youth.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and implements the Center Disability Student program.
- Case Management of all Cognitive disabilities, including folder review, collection of documents, IDT Team meetings, TABE testing, and development of academic and career training plans.
- Trains all staff on learning support/disabilities and ensures students receive appropriate accommodations.
- Initial screening of disabled students, assessment of needs, coordination of living quarters, and pre-arrival contact to ensure all requirements are met.
- Vocational assessments of students needing learning support.
- Develops contacts with state and community agencies representing the disabled and acts as liaison between these agencies and the Center.
- Works closely with the Vocational Rehabilitation Agency to ensure formal assessments and enrollment in programs.
- Ensures eligible students are signed up with Voc Rehab and SSI within their first month in the Program.
- Develops referrals to and receives reports from Health Services regarding speech therapy, psychological evaluations, and special health problems, and provides follow-up information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Two to three years related work experience preferred.
- State teaching certification or state licensure in Special Education preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.
