Director, Strategic Vendor Management

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Director, Strategic Vendor Management to join the team of a leader in the Legal & Accounting space. This role will lead the strategy, governance, and performance management for critical vendor partnerships across the organization. The director will serve as a key cross-functional partner to business leaders, driving service quality, financial discipline, and continuous improvement in a complex professional services environment. The position will also oversee escalation management and support sourcing and procurement efforts through a centralized vendor management function. Location: New York, NY - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Pay

Compensation: $220,000 – $250,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Oversee strategic vendor relationships and ensure alignment with business objectives
• Create and implement long-term vendor strategies and performance metrics
• Manage vendor performance through KPIs and service delivery standards
• Lead corrective actions for performance issues and drive continuous improvement
• Serve as senior escalation point for service-related challenges
• Guide the Vendor Management Office in sourcing and procurement processes
• Manage financial aspects of vendor relationships, including budgeting and reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
• 10+ years of experience in vendor management or related fields
• Proven experience leading complex vendor relationships
• Experience in professional services, law, or financial environments preferred
• Strong skills in strategy development and governance frameworks
• Financial management experience, including budget oversight
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives
