Director - Resident Camp

About the role

The Camp Director will oversee the entire camp operation, ensuring safety, compliance, and high-quality member-focused services.

Responsibilities

• Ensure campers' safety and supervision
• Recruit, train, develop, evaluate, recognize, hold accountable, and direct staff and volunteers
• Ensure staff certifications are current and complete
• Model relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions
• Monitor daily operations and ensure compliance/training with all state and local licensing/regulations
• Develop and implement the Staff Orientation schedule and program
• Oversee the scheduling of program activities, theme residential sessions, and family nights
• Oversee logistics and schedules for off-site trips
• Communicate performance standards, supervise, evaluate, and motivate staff including coaching, teaching, modeling, reinforcing, and assisting with difficult situations and correcting behavior
• Connect with staff, campers, and parents, making all feel welcome and included
• Review regularly with the Program Director all concerns, priorities, progress, problems, reports, and all matters dealing with camp and programs
• Identify and report maintenance concerns in a timely fashion
• Work in cooperation with all staff and other programs on the property
• Attend all staff meetings, special events, and training events as scheduled

Requirements

• Minimum five years’ experience working at a camp or related experience working with children in a leadership capacity
• Ability to independently lead and actively participate in a variety of activities
• Experience in supervision
• Ability to create and deliver activities
• Excellent communication skills
• First Aid & CPR certifications

Physical Demands

• Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations
• Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme heat and humidity
• Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aid
