CAMP Director

About the role

The CAMP Program Director will serve under the general direction of the Statewide Assistant Vice Provost for CAMP | Executive Director for Strategic Initiatives. Full responsibility includes planning, managing, and evaluating the California Alliance for Maximizing Potential (CAMP) UCI program. Direct supervision of two CAMP Program Professionals and several student staff is also included.

Responsibilities

• Prepare year-round programs, develop strategies to meet campus goals, and write statistical reports reflecting progress toward goals.
• Develop and maintain program visibility in schools.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with higher education institutions and community entities.
• Assist the CAMP Statewide Evaluation team in evaluating overall CAMP UCI efforts and make recommendations for changes.
• Independently work with assigned institutions and organizations to plan and implement a wide range of academic preparation programming.
• Work with UCI faculty, industry partners, and postsecondary institutions to coordinate CAMP activities.

Requirements

• 5-10 years of experience working in the postsecondary sector serving students in STEM.
• Bachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent experience/training, or Master's degree in related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
• Strong knowledge and experience working in postsecondary academic contexts serving students in STEM.
• Strong knowledge of up-to-date information on higher education policies and issues.
• Demonstrated supervisory skills.
• Knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures.
• Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, including UC faculty and administrators, community college and school district faculty and administrators, community leaders, students, and parents.
• Experience in representing the University in promoting goodwill and public support.
• Experience with budget development, management, implementation, and presentation of same.
• Strong communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Extensive experience in establishing and maintaining educational partnerships such as higher education administrators, faculty, advisors, and community contacts.
• Demonstrated experience in planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating precollegiate developmental programs and academic development programs at the secondary and post-secondary school levels.
