About the role

LawnStarter is expanding its reach to become the one-stop-shop for all home services. This role leads the team responsible for making organic search and AI-powered discovery successful at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own organic strategy across the brand portfolio, setting the vision, roadmap, and standards for organic search and AI-powered discovery.
  • Establish our brands as cited, authoritative sources in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and emerging conversational search surfaces through answer-first content architecture, entity authority, and structured data.
  • Build technical SEO and architecture, including large-scale technical infrastructure, Core Web Vitals, structured data, and crawl efficiency.
  • Direct content strategy and production, producing pages, guides, studies, and resources that rank, get cited, and convert.
  • Lead and hire a team, assessing the current core and making talent calls.
  • Partner with engineering, analytics, and data to build the technical and measurement foundation organic needs to operate at scale.
  • Solve problems such as recovering and growing traffic, diagnosing root causes, and building a measurement approach for AI Search visibility.

Requirements

  • Understand the importance of external visibility and how to build it through earned media strategies.
  • Operate with a business mindset, tying organic initiatives to CAC, acquisition, and revenue impact.
  • Diagnose fast, act faster, using data to find the signal in the noise and make clear recommendations.
  • Build and elevate teams, developing leaders and creating an environment where people know what great looks like.
  • Use AI tools daily and understand how LLMs and generative AI work to build an AI Search strategy grounded in how these systems actually discover and evaluate content.

Qualifications

  • Experience building for where search is going, not where it has been.
  • Understanding of organic as a revenue driver, not just a traffic channel.
  • Ability to diagnose fast and act faster, using data to find the signal in the noise.
  • Leadership experience in building and elevating teams.
  • Fluency with AI tools and understanding of how LLMs and generative AI work.
