Director of SEO and Agentic Search

About the role

LawnStarter is expanding its reach beyond lawn care to become the one-stop-shop for all home services. This role leads the team responsible for making organic search and AI-powered discovery successful at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own organic strategy across the brand portfolio, setting vision, roadmap, and standards for competing in AI-powered discovery.
• Establish brands as cited, authoritative sources in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and emerging conversational search surfaces through answer-first content architecture, entity authority, and structured data.
• Lead technical SEO and architecture, including large-scale technical infrastructure, Core Web Vitals, structured data, and crawl efficiency.
• Direct content strategy and production, overseeing the creation of pages, guides, studies, and resources that rank, get cited, and convert.
• Build and elevate teams, making talent calls and developing leaders, while influencing cross-functional partnerships and securing investment.
• Define and measure AI Search visibility, turning raw signals into a reliable view of AI Search performance to inform decision-making and demonstrate progress.

Requirements

• Understand the AI search shift and articulate how it impacts a business like ours.
• Operate with a business mindset, tying organic initiatives to CAC, acquisition, and revenue impact.
• Diagnose fast, act faster, using data to find the signal in the noise and make clear recommendations.
• Build and elevate teams, leading the direction and setting standards.
• Use AI tools daily and understand how LLMs and generative AI work to build an AI Search strategy grounded in their actual discovery and evaluation capabilities.
