Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, implement, supervise, and evaluate a comprehensive recreation and activities program.
- Develop engaging activities that meet the individual interests, abilities, and needs of residents.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations governing recreation services.
- Review, update, and recommend improvements to department policies and procedures.
- Participate in resident assessments, care planning meetings, and discharge planning.
- Identify residents' medically related activity needs and develop appropriate programming.
- Supervise, mentor, and support recreation staff and volunteers.
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy, social services, dietary, and other interdisciplinary departments.
- Maintain accurate documentation, activity calendars, attendance records, and regulatory reports.
- Manage department supplies, equipment, and budget responsibly.
- Attend required in-service education, staff meetings, and continuing education programs.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- ADC (Activity Director Certified) or CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) certification required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recreation or social programming experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Passion for improving the quality of life for seniors and residents.
