Director of Practice Operations
About the Role
Our client is a physician-led, multi-specialty healthcare organization providing comprehensive outpatient care across an extensive network of primary care and specialty practices. As the organization continues to invest in operational excellence and patient access, it seeks a dynamic Director of Operations to lead a regional portfolio of primary care clinics. This leader will partner closely with physicians, clinic managers, and executive leadership to improve operational performance, elevate the patient experience, and drive meaningful business results across a diverse network of practices. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring an individual who thrives in complex environments, leads with urgency, and is comfortable making difficult decisions to improve outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across a regional portfolio of primary care clinics serving diverse patient populations and communities.
- Partner closely with physicians, Clinic Managers, and clinical leadership to enhance patient access, operational performance, care delivery, patient experience, and financial outcomes.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing Clinic Managers while fostering a culture centered on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and interpret operational, clinical, and financial performance data to identify trends, address performance gaps, and implement sustainable improvements.
- Lead initiatives designed to improve clinic productivity, capacity, patient access, care coordination, quality, and overall operational effectiveness.
- Translate organizational priorities into actionable plans and drive consistent execution through strong change management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Establish clear operating standards, performance expectations, and best practices while ensuring consistency across multiple practice locations.
- Collaborate with physician leaders to identify clinical and operational opportunities, develop improvement plans, and drive measurable results.
- Create a performance-driven culture through regular business reviews, data-informed decision-making, clear accountability, and ongoing leadership coaching.
- Ensure clinic operations remain aligned with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and healthcare industry best practices.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Nursing, or a related discipline preferred.
Experience
- 5–10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, provider group management, ambulatory care, or a comparable multi-site healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing operations across multiple clinic or practice locations.
- Proven ability to build productive partnerships with physicians, clinical leaders, and other healthcare stakeholders.
- Track record of improving operational performance, strengthening team effectiveness, and successfully executing strategic and organizational initiatives.
- Experience leading teams through periods of organizational change, transformation, and performance improvement.
- Working knowledge of both fee-for-service and value-based care models and their operational implications.
