Director of Operations Products
About the role
WM is looking for a strategic, tech-savvy Operations Products Director to accelerate enterprise change and deliver the next generation of operations-focused digital products. In this role, you’ll lead cross-functional teams to design, build, and launch technology-enabled solutions that improve efficiency, strengthen standardized operating practices, and help WM operate as a world-class logistics organization. You’ll shape the product vision, drive innovation pilots, manage the full product lifecycle, and ensure new tools land successfully with frontline teams through strong change-management leadership. This role requires deep operations expertise, strong IT and architecture acumen, and the ability to influence senior leaders across the value chain. You’ll recruit and develop a high-performing team of Operations Product Owners and guide them toward measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Manages complex projects over long periods of time and across multiple disciplines.
- Develops and communicates the product strategy, vision, and roadmap for operations-focused capabilities; identifies innovation opportunities and manages pilots that improve business operations, economic performance, scalability, and process effectiveness.
- Builds implementation plan for new business ideas; responsible for the pilot, reporting, and management training.
- Develops and implements an effective operations improvement and product portfolio management process, ensuring initiatives align with long-range company objectives while building strong relationships with Area Optimization Directors, Area Vice Presidents, corporate function directors, product teams, and other key stakeholders.
- Responsible for recruiting, training, and performance of Operations Product Owners (POs) to implement and sustain Operations products.
- Utilizes financial analysis software/techniques to evaluate the effectiveness of current processes.
- Ensures process implementation and improvement through direct communication and solicitation of feedback.
- Maintains awareness of competition and trends affecting the industry.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering or similar area of study, or in lieu of, High School Diploma (accredited) and 4 years relevant experience.
- 10+ years previous experience with a proven track record of continual digital product and business process improvement and innovation simultaneously meeting financial, operations and customer demands (in addition to education requirement).

Office located in Houston, hybrid work from home on Friday.
