Merchandising Operations Specialist
This role supports the execution and optimization of merchandising operations within a fast-paced retail and grocery environment. The Merchandising Operations Specialist partners closely with merchandising, operations, accounting, supply chain, and technology teams to maintain accurate processes, enhance workflow efficiency, and drive operational initiatives that directly impact business performance.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day merchandising operational processes and ongoing initiatives in a retail and grocery environment.
- Execute merchandising workflows accurately and consistently to ensure smooth operational performance.
- Create, update, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and workflow materials.
- Document end-to-end workflows to support onboarding, training, and operational consistency.
- Monitor operational reporting on a regular basis and investigate discrepancies or data anomalies.
- Assist with the implementation and testing of new systems, tools, and processes related to merchandising operations.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams in merchandising, operations, accounting, supply chain, and technology to support project execution.
- Track project milestones, risks, dependencies, and action items to ensure timely delivery of operational initiatives.
- Follow up with stakeholders to confirm progress, resolve issues, and maintain alignment on project goals.
- Analyze operational performance data and key metrics to identify trends, inefficiencies, and process gaps.
- Use advanced Microsoft Excel to build reports, trackers, and dashboards that support operational visibility and decision-making.
- Monitor retail operations analytics and reporting to identify opportunities for workflow and process improvement.
- Recommend data-driven process improvements and corrective actions to reduce operational issues and enhance efficiency.
- Escalate operational concerns appropriately and propose practical solutions to address root causes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within merchandising operations, focusing on scalability, clarity, and efficiency.
- Assist merchandising teams with operational needs, ensuring consistent workflow compliance and reduced process ambiguity.
- Communicate project updates, risks, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders across the organization.
- Contribute to a metrics-driven culture by supporting accurate reporting and actionable insights from data.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience supporting merchandising operations in a retail or grocery environment.
- Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel for reporting, analysis, issue tracking, data validation, and operational support.
- Ability to analyze operational data and metrics to identify trends, inefficiencies, and process gaps.
- Experience creating and maintaining process documentation, including SOPs and workflow materials.
- Demonstrated ability to execute and maintain merchandising workflows with accuracy and consistency.
- Experience with cross-functional project coordination involving merchandising, operations, supply chain, accounting, or technology teams.
- Familiarity with retail operations analytics and monitoring business performance metrics.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate reporting and documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving ability and a process-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a metrics-driven environment.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a technology-enabled grocery or retail organization.
- Exposure to supply chain, inventory management, and business operations processes.
- Familiarity with SQL for querying and analyzing operational data.
- Experience supporting process improvement and operational transformation initiatives.
- Comfort working with new systems, tools, and technologies in an operations context.
- Ability to track and manage project milestones, risks, and action items using structured methods.
- Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Interest in building a long-term career in merchandising operations, retail operations, or related fields.
Work Environment
This role operates in a fast-paced, metrics-driven retail and grocery environment with a strong focus on technology-enabled operations. The position is fully onsite five days per week, with a standard schedule of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will collaborate closely with merchandising, operations, accounting, supply chain, and technology teams and work extensively with tools such as advanced Microsoft Excel, operational reporting systems, and other analytics and workflow platforms. The environment emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and continuous process improvement, offering exposure to projects that directly impact overall business performance.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00 per hour.

Schedule
This is a fully onsite position in Bronx, NY, with a standard schedule of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., five days per week. This is a Contract to Hire role.
