Director of Marketing and Commercial Strategy
Agile Space Industries is a rapidly growing supplier of propulsion hardware and engineering services for the space industry. Headquartered in Durango, Colorado, with expanding operations in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and upcoming growth in Seattle, Washington, Agile has achieved more than 40% year-over-year growth for the past three years. We design, build, and test in-space propulsion systems that give spacecraft the ability to maneuver with precision, reliability, and purpose. Our technologies play a critical role in missions ranging from lunar landings and resource utilization to national defense, human exploration, and commercial space transport.

This role can be onsite in Durango, CO, or remote from Denver, CO or Seattle, WA, with a strong preference for candidates able to be onsite in Durango. About the role
Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), this executive leads marketing, brand strategy, strategic communications, product marketing, and go-to-market planning to support the company's growth objectives. The Director serves as the strategic marketing counterpart to the CCO, translating commercial objectives into coordinated marketing initiatives, product positioning, and go-to-market strategies that strengthen Agile's market leadership and support revenue growth across commercial, civil, and national security space markets.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute Agile's corporate marketing strategy to strengthen brand recognition, thought leadership, and market positioning.
- Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns that strengthen brand awareness, customer engagement, and market positioning across all channels.
- Ensure consistent brand messaging and positioning across all customer touchpoints.
- Maintain the integrated marketing calendar and align campaign timing across functional areas.
- Identify opportunities to increase brand awareness, customer engagement, and market visibility.
- Provide leadership in all marketing functions, including brand management, product marketing, digital marketing, website strategy, strategic communications, public relations, technical publications, social media, and industry events.
- Establish marketing priorities and ensure all initiatives support company growth.
- Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing organization, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
- Lead weekly marketing planning meetings to align priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
- Build scalable marketing processes, workflows, and best practices.
- Direct marketing, business development, engineering, and other cross-functional staff to create and execute commercial campaigns (capture, product, market, customer, and event campaigns).
- Coordinate integrated campaigns across digital marketing, public relations, website, social media, conferences, customer engagement, and strategic communications.
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for priority products, markets, customer segments, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Evaluate market trends, customer needs, and competitive intelligence to inform commercial strategy and marketing priorities.
- Partner with the CCO and executive leadership to recommend commercial priorities, market strategies, product positioning, and long-term growth opportunities.
- Lead sales enablement by managing the development of customer messaging, presentations, product collateral, competitive positioning, and proposal support.
- Provide strategic direction for commercial planning, market intelligence, and performance metrics while partnering with the Senior Business Development Manager on commercial processes, forecasting, CRM, and sales operations.
- Establish marketing KPIs and measure campaign effectiveness; analyze marketing performance and recommend strategic adjustments.
- Provide strategic oversight of marketing investments while partnering with functional leads responsible for budget execution.
- Partner with executive leadership to support commercialization of new products and coordinate product launches.
- Partner closely with engineering, product management, program management, and executive leadership to ensure Agile's technical capabilities are effectively translated into compelling customer value propositions.
- Serve as a customer-facing marketing executive, building relationships with customers and partner marketing organizations.
- Facilitate collaboration between customer marketing teams and internal stakeholders to support joint initiatives.
- Partner with the Strategic Communications Lead to identify and coordinate opportunities for joint announcements, press releases, customer success stories, media engagements, and co-marketing campaigns.
- Coordinate cross-functional communication to ensure initiatives are aligned, timely, and effectively executed.
- Foster a culture of strategic thinking, collaboration, accountability, and execution throughout the commercial organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in aerospace, defense, or another highly technical B2B industry.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic marketing, branding, and go-to-market initiatives for complex technical products.
- Successful track record of digital marketing, strategic communications, and marketing event leadership.
- Experience developing and executing integrated marketing strategies across digital marketing, strategic communications, brand management, events, and product marketing.
- Experience with product marketing, brand development, strategic communications, and technical marketing for highly engineered products.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary marketing or commercial organizations.
- Strong strategic planning, organizational leadership, and project management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and executive communication skills.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive organizational alignment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in spacecraft, propulsion, launch, satellite systems, or national security space.
- Experience supporting customers such as NASA, Space Force, NRO, SDA, MDA, commercial space companies, and aerospace prime contractors.
- Knowledge of long-cycle, high-value technical marketing, sales, business development, and capture processes.
- Demonstrated success building brands and marketing organizations within the aerospace or defense industry.

Pay
The expected salary range for this role is $188,000 – $220,000 annually. Final compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, and internal equity, and is typically made within the midrange. The posted salary band reflects the compensation range for candidates located in Colorado; if you are located in another state, please contact HR to inquire about the applicable compensation band.
