Director of Housekeeping

About the role
Ensure cleanliness standards for guestrooms, meeting areas, public areas, and back-of-the-house through optimal training, staffing, and supervision of labor. Manage operating supplies efficiently and proactively monitor guest service scores and comments.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and monitor staff workload to ensure compliance with cleanliness and maintenance standards through continuous visual and written inspections of guestrooms and public spaces.
- Develop and manage the housekeeping and laundry budget.
- Implement controls for expense management.
- Conduct periodic inventory of guest supplies, small equipment, and linen.
- Utilize labor management tools to schedule and control labor costs.
- Schedule labor to align with forecasted hotel occupancy, F&B activity, and group events.
- Interview, hire, train, and develop staff; recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, and provide open communication.
- Recommend discipline or termination when appropriate.
- Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing to provide direction to staff.
- Interact positively with customers and resolve problems to maintain high levels of satisfaction.
- Evaluate the condition of furniture, fixtures, and décor; make recommendations and assist in coordinating preventative maintenance and rehab projects.
- Ensure compliance with housekeeping and laundry standard operating procedures and policies.
- Operate the department in accordance with OSHA requirements and guidelines.
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of management experience, with at least 3 years in housekeeping management.
- Experience managing in-house operated laundry operations.
- Thorough knowledge of all housekeeping and laundry operations and individual job requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other department leaders.
- Strong conflict resolution skills for guest, supervisor, and associate issues.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Willingness to assist co-workers with job duties and work as a team player, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, business planning, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law, and long-range planning.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to adapt communication style to different audiences.
Pay
Salary Range: $86,000.00 annually. Not eligible for tips/service charges or discretionary performance bonuses.
