Director of Facilities II
This is a competitive-class, full-time, 12-month probationary/permanent position within the Westchester County Department of Human Resources Civil Service. Eligible candidates must be active on an eligibility list or meet minimum qualifications for provisional appointment. This role is not part of a collective negotiation unit but receives benefits through the Dobbs Ferry Administrators Association (DFAA).
About the Role
The Director of Facilities II plans, organizes, and directs the custodial and maintenance activities of the school district's facilities department. Work is performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and applicable state, local, and federal laws. The role may require performing maintenance and repair tasks indoors or outdoors under adverse conditions, as well as office-based duties.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
- Ensure compliance with school district, workplace, and environmental laws, including emerging technologies.
- Supervise, evaluate, and train custodial, maintenance, and office support staff.
- Apply knowledge of NYSED regulations for capital projects.
- Maintain a valid New York State driver’s license.
Requirements
- Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance.
- Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and technologies.
- Experience in staff supervision, evaluation, and training.
- Familiarity with NYSED capital project regulations.
- Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license.
- State Education Department clearance (fingerprint and criminal background check) required prior to employment.
Qualifications
- Engineering background or experience in a building construction trade preferred but not required.
Pay
Salary range: $135,000 – $155,000, commensurate with experience.
