Director of Facilities - Giants Ridge
About the role
The Director of Facilities provides leadership and management for maintenance of all existing facilities and grounds at Giants Ridge. This position plans for future developments, adhering to legal and environmental standards with internal and external partners. The role reports to the General Manager and collaborates with other directors and managers to develop and execute company initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee overall building and related equipment, security, and custodial activities, including pool and sauna facilities operations and staffing.
- Ensure facilities and grounds are maintained and operated in compliance with regulatory bodies, company, and industry standards.
- Maintain year-round operational maintenance and seasonal transitions (winter, spring, summer, fall) for landscaping, weatherproofing, and preventative maintenance.
- Perform year-round assessments of grounds and facilities, including pre-season and post-season maintenance; address immediate action items.
- Oversee all related equipment and personnel, ensuring daily operations and future planning meet guest and company expectations.
- Manage year-round projects, construction, and maintenance for company-managed facilities and grounds.
- Monitor and maintain infrastructure and essential systems, including water, sewer, temperature control, parking lots, and roads outside municipal control.
- Oversee all snow removal operations.
- Design, implement, and maintain policies and procedures.
- Develop employee schedules and complete payroll.
- Create long and short-range maintenance plans (Capital projects, EAPs, energy management plans, budget plans).
- Collaborate across departments to address maintenance and facility needs.
- Inspect and evaluate new construction, repair work, ongoing projects, equipment, work orders, and supplies for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Approve inspection reports and payment requests.
- Oversee invoicing processes, ensuring proper coding for financial reporting and compliance, and manage budgeting efforts.
- Maintain logs of preventative, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance for facility structures, grounds, and equipment.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of pool systems, water quality controls, and mechanical equipment, adhering to applicable codes.
- Manage security of facilities, inventories, tracking, ordering controls, and procurement.
- Conduct safety and security training (OSHA, SDS).
- Attend and participate in operational meetings and required company functions.
- Manage budgets, including preparation, explanation, and execution.
- Interview, select, train, and direct employees; monitor performance through evaluations and staff development.
- Serve as Manager on Duty as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or five to seven years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five years in a leadership role managing multiple departments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of building systems, construction, and maintenance operations.
- Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, diagrams, and instructions.
- Ability to identify and resolve complex facility-related issues.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction permitting, building codes, and regulations.
- Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite; ability to learn new computer programs.
- Ability to lead people, manage time, and accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certification (required or ability to obtain).
- Minnesota Certified Pool Operator certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire).
- Current Boiler Operator License (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire).
- Valid Class D Driver’s License with an insurable driving record (CDL preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work extended hours indoors and outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, and humidity.
- Ability to safely negotiate slippery/uneven walking surfaces.
- Ability to walk, hike, stand, climb, and balance on variable uneven terrain.
- Ability to safely operate snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles in difficult, uneven terrain.
- Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 pounds regularly, 30–50 pounds frequently, and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.
- Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.

Pay
$70,000 - $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
