Duties And Responsibilities
- Procure permits and licenses as necessary and prepare and issue reports for regulatory compliance.
- Directly supervise Plant Operations and Telecommunications departments and manage their budgets.
- Prepare annual budgets and operational plans for the Engineering department.
- Manage and maintain service and maintenance contracts for the Engineering department and solicit RFPs and negotiate contract terms.
- Negotiate utility agreements for natural gas, oil, and electrical power procurement.
- Develop a Capital Budget list of equipment and projects for Griffin Hospital and its holdings.
- Plan and implement in-house construction projects.
- Oversee corrective and preventive maintenance programs for MEP systems.
- Ensure all equipment and systems are tested, calibrated, maintained, and functioning at operating levels in compliance with applicable codes and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, including those related to the Environment of Care.
- Review and monitor water treatment programs to ensure appropriate biological/chemical water treatment is maintained and testing is performed and documented.
- Continue efforts to reduce energy consumption through constant energy monitoring.
Educations And Qualifications
- A graduate engineer or equivalent knowledge/experience.
- A minimum of 10 years experience in hospital facilities management.
- A thorough knowledge of hospital regulations for agencies having jurisdiction such as The Joint Commission (TJC), CT. Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), Department of Public Health (DPH), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), National Building Codes, and CT supplements.
