The Role

The Director of Facilities, Safety, and Security plays a pivotal role in overseeing the smooth operation of the warehouse environment, ensuring a safe and secure workplace for all employees.

Responsibilities

  • Manage maintenance schedules, including routine inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, and improvements to equipment across the enterprise.
  • Develop and implement plans for the efficient use of space, utilities, and equipment to optimize warehouse performance.
  • Led and manage capital expenditures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, including the administration and maintenance of workers compensation process.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, identify hazards, and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, industry standards, and company policies related to safety.
  • Develop safety training programs, including onboarding for new hires and ongoing education for existing employees.
  • Support workplace incidents, conducting investigations and reporting findings to senior leadership.
  • Cookordination with external safety organizations and regulators to ensure all safety standards and certifications are met.
  • Oversee the security of the warehouse and its assets, including surveillance systems, access control, and physical security measures.
  • Develop and implement security protocols to protect both personnel and property.
  • Lead the development and implementation of emergency response plans, ensuring preparedness for natural disasters, fires, and other emergencies.
  • Work closely with law enforcement and security vendors to resolve any security-related issues.
  • Monitor and manage security budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions for safeguarding the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Industrial Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in facilities management, safety, and security, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a warehouse or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and security protocols in a warehouse environment.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficient in facilities management software, safety management systems, and security technologies.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Certifications: OSHA Certification 7005/7100/7105/7500 (preferred), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) (preferred).

Qualifications

  • Prolonged periods of being in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
  • Able to work on the warehouse floor when needed including continuous time moving, regular transportation of freight up to 50 pounds (with team lifting heavier items), reaching, bending, carrying, etc.
  • Constantly works in an environment where the temperature matches that of the outside temperature.
