About the role

The Director of Facilities maintains a high standard of excellence in overseeing, managing, and coordinating all aspects of The Bronx Museum’s Security, Building, and Custodial functions, as well as discreet capital projects for a campus comprising galleries, education classrooms, flexible program areas, administrative and art storage spaces, and adjoining lots. This role collaborates across all museum departments to ensure safe and welcoming building operations in support of exhibitions, public programs, and daily engagement with diverse visitors and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

- Maintains a high standard of excellence in overseeing, managing, and coordinating all aspects of The Bronx Museum’s Security, Building, and Custodial functions. - Collaborates across all museum departments to ensure safe and welcoming building operations in support of exhibitions, public programs, and daily engagement with diverse visitors and stakeholders. - Oversees discreet capital projects for a campus comprising galleries, education classrooms, flexible program areas, administrative and art storage spaces, and adjoining lots.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in a related field. - Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in facilities management or a related field. - Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. - Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. - Excellent communication and organizational abilities. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated commitment to cultural institutions and community engagement. - Experience with budgeting and financial management. - Knowledge of health and safety regulations. - Familiarity with building systems and maintenance procedures. - Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Skills

- Strong project management and organizational skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. - Familiarity with building systems and maintenance procedures. - Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
