About the Role

Under the direction of the Administrator and Executive Director of Masonicare Behavioral Health Hospital, the Director of Facilities oversees the maintenance department and Power House. Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all physical plant functions. Ensures compliance and readiness with all pertinent regulatory and emergency preparedness requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes overall responsibility for facilities department at the Masonicare Health Center.
  • Establishes performance goals, allocates resources, and reviews policies/procedures to ensure departmental effectiveness.
  • Ensures the facility is up to date on all fire safety related regulations, statutes, and laws, and maintains compliance with DPH and Town of Wallingford fire safety laws.
  • Ensures knowledge of and compliance with DPH regulations related to life safety, and organizes all appropriate life safety paperwork for annual and periodic surveys.
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports and prepares periodic reports to assure department goals and objectives.
  • Develops budget for the departments, allocates funds within budget limits, and monitors variance against budget on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensures all regulatory guidelines are adhered to and monitored regularly for compliance (e.g., environmental safety committee, workplace violence, emergency preparedness).
  • Develops and determines priorities and monitors the status of special projects.
  • Develops, implements, administers, and modifies programs to maintain the facility and equipment through effective utilization of resources.
  • Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment and improvement programs, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
  • Participates in affiliate meetings and attends professional/civil service organizations as a Masonicare representative.
  • Assesses day-to-day activities to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Inspects building and grounds to ensure conformance with established standards and regulations.
  • Examines estimates of material, equipment, and production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules.
  • Creates a preventative maintenance system for equipment within the Masonicare Health Center.
  • Selects, trains, orients, and assigns department staff, evaluates performance, and makes recommendations for human resources actions.
  • Oversees repairs, renovations, and new construction.
  • Coordinates and manages trash removal program, including trash, recycling, hazardous, regulated, and removable waste management.
  • Responds to resident complaints and ensures appropriate and timely follow-up.
  • Understands and follows Infection Control as it pertains to the department.
  • Ensures education of all department employees in the Right to Know standard and keeps required documentation up to date.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant business experience and management experience.

Schedule

Day Shift / 40 hours per week
