The Director, Facilities is responsible for developing, maintaining and supervising all areas of work related to the Facilities Department. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities High School Diploma or GED equivalent and five plus years’ experience in a leadership role for a maintenance or facilities team preferred; or any combination of training, education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills to successfully perform in this role. A minimum of three (3) years leadership, management or supervisory experience, required. Knowledge and experience in the areas of supervision of other staff. Knowledge of work and maintenance required for the general upkeep of buildings, electrical and plumbing services, heating and air conditioning and transportation services. Ability to build collaborative relationships across organization departments and service vendors. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic ticketing systems. Ability to maintain sensitivity to our target population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. Job Duties And Responsibilities Plans and assigns daily work to each person employed in the Facilities Department. Ensure staff accurately log hours worked and time off requests in agency payroll system. Ensures maintenance requests are completed in a timely manner and tracked in maintenance tracking system. Schedules employees so that someone is on call weekends and holidays to handle emergencies. Builds strong working relationships with other department directors. Develops systems that provide responsive and timely requests for services across campus. Ensures that the water supply system is operated according to the standards set by the Volusia County and State of Florida Health Departments, the various Environmental Control Units, and others in authority. Water samples are tested regularly according to the appropriate regulations and careful records are kept on pump and supply lines line systems. Maintains sewage disposal system in accordance with any law, county, state or federal as may apply at all times. In all matters of campus upkeep or repair when it is clearly seen that the department employees cannot perform a repair of maintenance task expeditiously and safely, the Director is authorized to call outside help. This must be kept within budgetary provisions. Works closely with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure that all transportation equipment is kept in good repair, safe condition to use on public highways. Ensures safety inspections are made in a timely fashion in collaborating with Director of Safety and Risk Management. Assists in determining when it is to the best advantage of the agency to sell or trade any vehicle. Helps monitor to ensure that agency cars and trucks are not used for private purposes by staff or children in residence. Supervises outside vendors/contractors performing services on the Enterprise Campus. Work collaboratively with the Director of Safety and Risk Management to ensure a safe physical environment for all buildings/campuses. Perform all other job duties and responsibilities, as assigned. Employment Requirements Valid driver license with a clean driving record, required. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent, required. Ability to read, write and speak proficiently in English, required. Supervisory Responsibilities This job will directly or indirectly supervise all employees within the Facilities department. This position will also oversee volunteers, vendors and contractors that are working in partnership with the Facilities department.
