Position Overview
This position is responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for an assigned group of prospects, including individuals and corporations/foundations, with a focus on major gift activity; identification and qualification of new prospects; and managing assigned fundraising projects.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required with related experience.
- Experience in higher education fundraising, non-profit fundraising, sales or other relevant experience required.
- Ability to work independently and in teams, meet high goals and interact effectively with alumni, friends, faculty and staff in a comprehensive research university setting.
- Willingness to travel and work weekends.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- Master’s degree.
- Seven years or more of related experience.
- Skills and experience relevant to securing major gifts, which can include front line fundraising, financial advising, and estate planning, and sales.
- A strategic, entrepreneurial, and innovative approach to fundraising.
- A knowledge of contemporary philanthropy and the vehicles available to individuals to achieve their philanthropic goals.
- A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and collaboratively.
- The capacity to communicate with a wide variety of individuals and inspire them to support programming in a broad range of University programs.
- An understanding of complex, comprehensive institutions and an appreciation for and understanding of diverse audiences and communities.
