Director of Business Systems
Essential Purpose Of This Position
The Director of Business Systems leads the strategy of the company's core business applications and related enterprise systems. Reporting to the President, this role serves as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring systems support operational needs, timelines are met, and system investments deliver measurable business value.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Own end-to-end project management for all business systems initiatives from charter and business case through requirements, design, testing, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization.
Manage multiple concurrent project timelines, budgets, staffing plans, and risk registers; proactively identify and resolve scope, schedule, and resource conflicts across the portfolio.
Cook up coordination with external implementation partners, consultants, and software vendors, including contract oversight and vendor performance management.
Develop and deliver executive-level status reporting, steering committee updates, and post-implementation reviews (lessons learned).
Drive organizational change management and user adoption planning (training, communications, go-live readiness) for each initiative.
Establish governance processes for change requests, enhancements, and system configuration standards.
Evaluate new technology and system upgrades; build business cases for investment.
Ensure all projects comply with company standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance protocols.
Conduct regular quality inspections and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Skills And Abilities Required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field.
PMP certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience managing ERP projects.
Strong understanding of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Open Insight, Oracle, etc.).
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
