Position Overview
An established investment management firm is seeking a Director of Business Development & Investor Relations to lead fundraising initiatives, institutional business development efforts, and investor relationship management. This individual will play a key role in driving the firm's growth strategy by developing new investor relationships, maintaining existing client partnerships, and serving as a trusted resource to sophisticated allocators.Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a business development strategy focused on raising assets across institutional investors, RIAs, family offices, OCIOs, private banks, and wealth management platforms.
- Identify, qualify, and cultivate relationships with prospective investors and strategic allocation partners.
- Own the full fundraising lifecycle, including prospecting, outreach, presentations, due diligence, negotiation, and closing.
- Educate prospective investors on structured products, defined outcome strategies, and other payoff-engineered investment solutions.
- Articulate portfolio construction benefits, risk-return characteristics, and use cases for structured products within diversified investment portfolios.
- Partner with investment leadership to deliver customized solutions and investment presentations to sophisticated allocators.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in institutional sales, business development, capital raising, investor relations, or distribution within asset management, structured products, alternative investments, private markets, or related financial services sectors.
- Direct experience distributing, fundraising for, or advising on structured products, including structured notes, defined outcome strategies, buffered products, autocallables, or other payoff-engineered investment solutions.
- Ability to discuss structured product concepts, including participation rates, downside protection mechanisms, caps, barriers, option overlays, and risk/return characteristics with sophisticated investors.
- Demonstrated success sourcing and closing new business opportunities with institutional investors, RIAs, family offices, OCIOs, or wealth management platforms.
- Strong understanding of capital markets, portfolio construction, and alternative investment strategies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Preferred
- Existing relationships within the institutional, family office, RIA, consultant, and private wealth communities.
- Experience working with structured product platforms, alternative investment platforms, or investment banks.
- Professional designations such as CFA, CAIA, CIMA, or similar credentials.
- Experience leveraging CRM and technology tools to support fundraising and investor relations activities.
