Director, Endowments & Account Management
About the role
Leads the team of Account Analysts and Managers that monitor all Philanthropic funds for the entire University. Partners with Chairs, Deans, and University leadership to advise action to bring gift accounts into compliance with donor, Institution, or UT System policies. Creates and leads implementation of training programs for the Institution related to Philanthropic gift usage.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with Institutional Leadership to ensure endowment and current use funds are appropriately used according to the gift agreement, Accounting, and UT System policies.
- Manages the Endowment Database and maintains records for the 800+ permanent endowments held by UT Health San Antonio.
- Provides regular updates on use of funds to appropriate team members for timely reporting to donors.
- Coordinates faculty appointment process for all academic endowments with Deans.
- Educates partners across campus on gift, endowment, and fund group policies.
- Oversees the development and implementation of a regular reporting program to the President, VP of AAE, Compliance Committee, and UT System related to Endowed and Current Fund Usage.
- Provides supervision and management duties including interviewing, selecting, and training employees; planning and directing work; appraising productivity and efficiency; handling complaints/grievances, and disciplining when necessary.
- Develops, revises, and makes recommendations on IA-related policies in the Handbook of Operating Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of administrative compliance, financial reporting, and applicable business practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of and ability to influence budgeting, controlling costs, planning, scheduling, and procedural change.
- Knowledge of all endowment and other restricted fund group policies.
- Ability to work cooperatively with administrative partners across the institution.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others; attention to detail.
- Ability to handle highly confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), databases, and Adobe.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- 5-7 years of related accounting or business experience.

- Medical: UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.
- Time Off:
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month, which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
- Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
- Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.
