About the role

We Are Social is a creative agency powered by social connections, thriving on what's trending and creating campaigns that spark conversation. We call it "Ideas Worth Talking About," and we've played a part in some of the most culturally relevant campaigns of the decade for brands like McDonald's, Adidas, Universal Studios, and YouTube.

As Director, Culture Comms, you will be the strategic compass for our clients, navigating the intersection of brand identity and digital subcultures. You are a "chronically online" visionary responsible for architecting high-level channel strategies across paid, owned, and influencer ecosystems. Your mission is to transform raw cultural insights into executional excellence, serving as an indispensable partner to creative teams and a trusted advisor to our clients.

Why you'll love it here

  • We like to laugh, live for celeb gossip, and are great on AUX
  • Our passport program lets you explore and work from one of our 16 other offices worldwide, including Paris, Singapore, Madrid, Dubai, London, and more
  • We celebrate our wins—and our losses (it's how we learn)
  • From carbon offsets to community kitchens, we're passionate about making a difference
  • Great snacks (shoutout to Sheila who keeps the kitchen stocked)

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Brand Strategy and Insights and Measurement teams to define areas of culture the brand has the right to play in, then sell it in with data and storytelling
  • Drive the proactive development of trend reports and platform updates, acting as the definitive agency and client resource for new behaviors, formats, and opportunities
  • Build creative briefs that identify audience and cultural insights and tensions, turning them into brand narratives worth talking about
  • Set the standard for developing modern social content pillars and channel and audience strategies that drive business outcomes
  • Play a critical leadership role to manage and mentor team members while proactively managing up across resourcing and client areas of growth
  • Act as an indispensable partner to the creative team to ensure ideas are made for social and executed to perfection
  • Proactively develop new ways of working that improve the clarity of strategy deliverables and increase efficiency between internal and client teams
  • Act as an AI thought leader and trusted practitioner, consistently identifying opportunities for research and strategy to level up and disrupt

Requirements

  • 8+ years in social strategy, digital marketing, or cultural communications, with a proven track record of leading high-level brand accounts
  • Deeply passionate about the future of social beyond a tactical distribution channel
  • "Chronically online"—you understand internet subcultures, memes, and platform shifts before they hit the mainstream
  • Exceptional deck building and presentation skills with the ability to "sell" brave creative ideas to any type of client stakeholder
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools (LLMs, NotebookLM, etc.) to analyze consumer behavior and optimize workflows
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor team members

Qualifications

Traditional agency experience is not required, but it's a plus. What matters is your deep understanding of what resonates with social audiences. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, respond quickly and proactively, and are a self-starter who navigates feedback like a pro. This role is energetic, innovative, and forward-thinking, guiding brands by staying ahead of social trends and cultural moments.
