Role Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Assistant Dean, Director of Career Services, and Director of Alumni Career Services to identify emerging career trends and innovations in the community engagement, career development, and entrepreneurship field(s) relevant to young performing artists.
  • Maintain visibility for all Community Engagement programming and resources with students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, health care facilities, social service organizations, and schools that serve as venues for Juilliard’s Community Engagement work.
  • Creatively adapt the artistic services and resources available through this office to meet client and community organization requests, including high profile or unique events and residencies, through knowledge of both the performing arts and the unique skills of our individual students.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, Program Manager for Community Engagement Performances, Program Manager for the Morse Teaching Artist Fellowship, and other offices, lead the application, implementation, reporting, and assessment processes for all Community Engagement Fellowship programs.
  • Curate and lead training sessions to support all Community Engagement Fellows throughout the year.
  • Develop thematic programming, select performers, and coach students and professional artists contracted for educational events, such as Relaxed Performances, Experience Juilliard, Dance Community Concerts, and Young People’s Concert Series.
  • Serve as a career advisor to college division students and alumni from all divisions.
  • Manage and mentor office staff, temp staff, apprentices, and work-study students.
  • Serve as a student conduct administrator and appeal officer to adjudicate violations of school policies and aid with conduct appeal reviews as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Direct experience in the performing arts (music, dance, and/or drama), arts administration, and/or arts education
  • Highly conversant in issues around social justice, education, and community-based artistry
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and managerial skills and the ability to speak and write effectively to a broad spectrum of individuals and groups, from students to donors
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office, Outlook
  • Demonstrated commitment to increasing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging through the performing arts and arts education
  • Understanding the mission of the Juilliard School as well as the School’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging
