About Founding Forward

Founding Forward is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to informing and engaging citizens through transformational educational experiences grounded in American history. These experiences empower students, educators, and communities to understand, appreciate, and practice the principles, rights, and responsibilities of American citizenship. Founding Forward operates from two main locations: the Sir John Templeton Heritage Center, a research, exhibit, and programming space at The Union League of Philadelphia, and an 86-acre educational campus in Valley Forge, PA.

About the role

Reports to: Chief Engagement Officer
Status: Full-time

Primary Responsibilities

Community & Institutional Engagement

  • Build and steward relationships with schools, civic and community organizations, teachers, cultural institutions, public agencies, and other strategic partners.
  • Proactively introduce new audiences and identify opportunities to deepen existing relationships.
  • Represent Founding Forward at conferences, meetings, and other external engagement opportunities.
  • Partner with Education to expand relationships with schools and educational organizations and connect interested participants to Founding Forward programs.

Education & Strategic Partnerships

  • Identify and develop partnerships that expand Founding Forward's reach, participation, and impact.
  • Work across the organization to turn external relationships into meaningful programs, collaborations, and opportunities.

Regional & National Growth

  • Help expand Founding Forward's regional and national footprint through new relationships, networks, and strategic partnerships.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and recommend strategies to broaden the organization's reach.

Cross-Divisional Collaboration

  • Connect external partners and opportunities with the appropriate teams across Founding Forward.
  • Collaborate with other departments, volunteer leaders, and others to turn relationships into meaningful organizational opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Must have an interest in civic education and a commitment to Founding Forward’s mission.
  • Experience in education and sales ideal.
  • Excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Must hold or be able to complete clearances for working with youth and have an active driver’s license.

  • Strong pipeline of partnership and program opportunities.
  • Effective collaboration and handoffs across divisions.
