About the role

The Association for Individual Development (AID) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with various challenges to live dignified and purposeful lives. We are seeking a Direct Support Professional who shares our commitment to making a positive impact in the community.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a team approach in working with clients, staff, and external agencies.
• Implement specific programs from the Individual Plan or Implementation Strategy, and document services provided according to program procedures.
• Familiarize and adhere to all agency and program rules and regulations.
• Report concerns or issues to the immediate supervisor promptly.
• Plan and prepare meals following menus and recipes, ensuring compliance with client dietary requirements.
• Attend to the self-care needs of clients, including toileting assistance, changing clothes, bathing, grooming, shaving, cleaning glasses and adaptive equipment, etc.
• Obtain medication administration authorization at a minimum of one location and maintain this authorization through annual training and adherence to policies.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing daily surface, deep, and sanitizing cleaning tasks, reporting environmental safety concerns, and participating in safety drills.
• Monitor and relay medical information during client appointments and assist in the upkeep of their homes.
• Provide transportation for clients as needed, including personal or agency vehicles.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new staff members.
• Participate in community and in-house activities, conduct monthly client input meetings, and facilitate training activities.
• Complete required training and documentation as per licensing and program requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Home and Community Based Settings Rules and apply principles in client, family, and stakeholder interactions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) or Autism Certificate preferred.
• Experience working with developmentally disabled adults preferred.
• Physical requirements include climbing stairs daily, lifting up to 50 pounds, and significant walking and standing.
• Must pass S-TOFHLA literacy test.
• Must complete required DSP and Medication Administration Training, including CPR, First Aid, Infection Control, OIG Rule 50, and CPI.
• Must maintain certification for enteral nutrition tasks and perform these tasks a minimum of twice a month.
• Evening, weekend, overnight, and holiday hours are required.
• A valid Illinois driver's license is required.
• Must have access to a personal cell phone with secure messaging capabilities.
• Must meet and maintain IDOT-approved driver status.

Benefits

Full-time employees receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus, 21 days of paid time off plus 10 paid holidays, paid training, tuition reimbursement, benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, STD, LTD, critical illness, and accident insurance, and a 3.5% company contribution to a 401K plan. Additionally, there is evening, weekend, overnight, and holiday work required, and the schedule is determined by client and program needs.

Pay

$15.00 - $16.00 per hour based on experience.

Schedule

Schedule: Tues-Thurs 3-10p; Fri 2-9p; Sat 8a-8p.
