About the role

The Association for Individual Development (AID) seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. AID empowers individuals with diverse needs to lead dignified and purposeful lives. We are seeking a DSP who embodies our mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a team approach in working with clients, staff, and external agencies.
  • Implement specific programs from the Individual Plan or Implementation Strategy, and document services provided.
  • Familiarize and adhere to all agency and program rules and regulations.
  • Report concerns or issues to the supervisor promptly.
  • Plan and prepare meals according to menus and recipes, ensuring compliance with dietary requirements.
  • Attend to the self-care needs of clients, including toileting, bathing, grooming, and medication administration.
  • Assure safe conditions inside and outside the home, including maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
  • Provide transportation for clients as needed.
  • Monitor and relay medical information during appointments.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and client meetings.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff.
  • Conduct monthly client input meetings and facilitate training activities.
  • Complete required training and maintain medication administration authorization.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • CNA certification or Autism Certificate preferred.
  • Experience working with developmentally disabled adults preferred.
  • Physical requirements: climb stairs daily, no medical restrictions preventing lifts/transfers, significant walking/standing.
  • Equipment: computer, software, household appliances, alarm systems, telephone, office equipment, adaptive equipment, agency vehicles.
  • Additional requirements: valid Illinois driver's license, access to a personal cell phone with secure messaging capabilities, IDOT-approved driver status, and meet all other specified criteria.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Licenses/Certifications: CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) or Autism Certificate desired.
  • Experience: Experience working with developmentally disabled adults preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, significant walking/standing, and perform daily housekeeping tasks.
  • Equipment: Computer and software, household appliances, alarm systems, telephone, office equipment, adaptive equipment, agency vehicles.
  • Additional Requirements: Valid Illinois driver's license, access to a personal cell phone with secure messaging capabilities, IDOT-approved driver status, and meet all other specified criteria.
