About the role

This position is responsible for assessing and monitoring nutritional status of patients/clients, providing medical nutrition therapy (MNT)/counseling, and coordinating nutrition into a total patient/client therapy program.

Responsibilities

  • Affirms nutritional status and adjusts care as necessary.
  • Provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT)/counseling including assessment and education.
  • Makes consults and referrals as needed.
  • Communicates with physicians, nurses, and others to integrate nutrition into patient/client therapy.
  • Completes required documentation including nutritional care plan, assessments, consultations, nutrient intake analyses, and patient/client education.
  • Assesses and communicates the effectiveness of patient/client and family education.
  • Develops, evaluates, and utilizes appropriate education materials.
  • Develops and delivers in-services on selected topics to team members and other disciplines as requested.
  • Participates in basic skills orientation, training, and mentoring of team members and dietetic interns as applicable.
  • Shares nutrition research findings with medical team members, nursing, pharmacy, patients, and the public.
  • Communicates with multidisciplinary departments on patient/client care and issues, including performance feedback on personnel when requested or applicable to ensure standards of excellence are met for customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Licensed Registered Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetic Registration and licensed by the affiliated state board.
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition or related field if CDR registration eligibility is obtained prior to January 1, 2024, or minimum of master’s degree if initial CDR registration is obtained on or after January 1, 2024.
  • No prior experience required.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development.
  • Knowledgeable about the patient population served.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Proficient in reading and writing.
  • Skilled in motor skills such as reaching, squatting, twisting, and bending.

Pay

$28.55 - $42.85 per hour

Schedule

Primarily Monday-Friday, occasional weekend coverage
