Dietitian Nutritionist
About the role
This position is located at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and is part of Department 11951. The role is full-time with benefits eligibility and works 40 hours per week, with adult weekend coverage every 11-12 weeks. The schedule includes onsite both days and offers comp days before and after the weekend.
Responsibilities
- Affirms and monitors nutritional status of patients/clients and adjusts nutritional care as needed.
- Provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT)/counseling, including assessment and education, developing, monitoring, and implementing MNT/counseling for patients/clients in assigned areas.
- Completes consults and referrals as required.
- Communicates with physicians, nurses, and others to integrate nutrition into a comprehensive patient/client therapy program.
- Documents all required information in a timely, professional, and thorough manner.
- Assesses and evaluates the effectiveness of patient/client and family education.
- Develops, evaluates, and utilizes appropriate education materials.
- Evaluates and documents learner response to teaching.
- Develops and delivers in-services on selected topics to team members and other disciplines as requested.
- Supervises basic skills orientation, training, and mentoring of team members and dietetic interns as applicable.
- Communicates with multidisciplinary departments on patient/client care and issues, including providing performance feedback when necessary.
Requirements
- Licensed Registered Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetic Registration and licensed by the affiliated state board, if applicable.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition or related field, or successful completion of the Registered Dietitian exam and registration within 6 months of employment.
