About the role

This position is responsible for assessing and monitoring nutritional status of patients/clients, providing medical nutrition therapy, and coordinating nutrition into a total patient/client therapy program.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and monitors nutritional status of patients/clients and adjusts nutritional care as indicated.
  • Provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT)/counseling including assessment and education.
  • Completes consults and referrals as received.
  • Communicates with physicians, nurses, and others to coordinate nutrition into a total patient/client therapy program.
  • Completes all required documentation including nutritional care plan, assessments, consultations, nutrient intake analyses and patient/client education.
  • Provides and assesses effectiveness of patient/client and family education.
  • Develops, evaluates, and utilizes appropriate education materials.
  • Teaches and disseminates results and findings of nutrition research to medical team members, nursing, pharmacy, patients, and public.
  • Communicates with multidisciplinary departments on patient/client care and issues, including performance feedback on personnel when requested or applicable to ensure standards of excellence are met for customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetic Registration and licensed by the affiliated state board.
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition or related field if CDR registration eligibility is obtained prior to January 1, 2024, or minimum of master’s degree if initial CDR registration is obtained on or after January 1, 2024.
  • No experience required.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development.
  • Knowledgeable about the patient population served.

Skills

  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write effectively.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Physical abilities to walk, stand, sit, squat, twist, and bend.

Pay

$28.55 - $42.85 per hour.

Schedule

M-F - Day shift; occasional weekends.
