We are seeking a PRN (as needed) Dietary Cook for our nursing facility in Humboldt, TN. Tennessee State Veterans’ Home is a long-term care and skilled nursing facility dedicated to caring for Tennessee veterans and their families. Responsibilities
- Coordinate food preparation and meal service for residents.
- Plan and initiate cooking schedules for food preparation to meet meal service times.
- Follow written menus and prepare standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure quality and minimize waste.
- Review menus to identify all foods required for therapeutic diets before preparing food.
- Prepare, season, cook, and serve food according to planned menus, ensuring palatable, appetizing, and properly portioned meals.
- Monitor temperature of hot and cold foods throughout preparation and service to meet established temperature goals.
- Clean equipment and work areas as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a dietary environment at a large establishment; health care experience is preferred.
- Previous knowledge and care of food service equipment is required.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred; previous experience in a long-term care or hospital setting is preferred.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Employment and professional references required.
