Dietary Cook - PRN (As Needed)

We are seeking a PRN (as needed) Dietary Cook for our nursing facility in Humboldt, TN. Tennessee State Veterans’ Home is a long-term care and skilled nursing facility dedicated to caring for Tennessee veterans and their families. Consistently ranked in the top 3% for quality care according to CMS, we have been a leader in nursing home care for over 25 years.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate food preparation and meal service for residents.
• Plan and initiate cooking schedules for food preparation to meet meal service times.
• Follow written menus and prepare standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure quality and minimize waste.
• Review menus to identify all foods required for therapeutic diets before preparing food.
• Prepare, season, cook, and serve food according to planned menus, ensuring palatable, appetizing, and properly portioned meals.
• Monitor temperature of hot and cold foods throughout preparation and service to meet established temperature goals.
• Clean equipment and work areas as assigned by the Dietary Manager.

Requirements

• Prior experience in a dietary environment at a large establishment; health care experience is preferred.
• Previous knowledge and care of food service equipment is required.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred; previous experience in a long-term care or hospital setting is preferred.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Employment and professional references required.
