Diesel Mechanic - Full Benefits with Pension!

Our mechanics play a crucial role in the safe operation of our transit system, ensuring the safety of passengers who rely on transit for their daily commutes.

Pay

• $33.00/hour (B Tech)
• $37.71/hour (A Tech)
• $40.71/hour (Master-Level ASEs)
• $600 tool allowance
• $300 boot allowance

Responsibilities

• Evidence of a "safety first" attitude
• Operate and competently function within a CMMS, including creating and completing work orders, entering parts used, and time allocated to repairs
• Understand and interpret schematics
• Troubleshoot technical issues, communicate and document solutions to non-technical parties
• Work in a 24/7 environment with flexibility
• Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs on Battery Electric Bus (BEB) systems, ADA equipment, air conditioning, brakes, chassis, cooling system, engine, interior/exterior lighting, gauges and controls, safety equipment, fire suppression system and sensitive edges, tires, and transmissions
• Use diagnostic computer equipment and software (e.g., Cummins Insite, Volvo/Mac)

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license with CDL endorsement (ability to obtain CDL Permit if not already possessed)
• ASE Transit Certificate/Heavy Vehicle Certification required for A and B Tech roles
• Five (5) years progressive heavy equipment maintenance preferred
• Two (2) years technical degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Additional proven training from mechanical/technical schools, OEM courses, or seminars desirable
• Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of various vehicle systems
• Intermediate-level computer skills (including Microsoft applications)
