Diesel Mechanic

About the role

Heavy-duty diesel truck mechanic responsible for operating, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining company-owned or leased trucks and equipment to ensure safe operation.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair issues with heavy-duty diesel trucks, hydraulics, and specialized waste/recycling equipment.
• Perform routine and complex maintenance on diesel, CNG, gas, and electric vehicles.
• Plan and schedule repairs using the M5 planner system, ensuring parts availability.
• Complete reports, work orders, and parts requests accurately.
• Ensure safety and compliance with all relevant laws and policies.
• Assist in reviewing equipment write-ups, coordinating repairs, and training new team members.
• Maintain personal tools and keep a clean work area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; technical diesel mechanics qualification preferred.
• At least 1 year of diesel mechanic experience.
• Computer literacy and ability to learn diagnostic software.
• Ability to meet safety-sensitive criteria.

Physical & Working Conditions

• Frequent physical activity including standing, walking, kneeling, lifting up to 100 pounds, and working in loud, hot/cold, and chemical environments.
• Occasional work at heights and exposure to moving machinery and chemicals.
