About the role

Performs delegated nursing interventions to stable dialysis patients under direct supervision of the registered nurse. Responsibilities include initiation, monitoring, and discontinuation of dialysis treatments; proper operation of dialysis equipment; gathering and documenting pertinent patient information; and responding to alarms. This role offers the opportunity to build relationships and make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives while working in a fast-paced environment with a supportive team.

No experience required—supportive and thorough on-the-job training provided. Sign-on bonus available for eligible applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare dialysis equipment and supplies
  • Inspect patient access sites
  • Obtain blood samples as directed
  • Adjust treatments under nursing staff direction
  • Monitor equipment and patient vitals during treatment
  • Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatments
  • Administer medications as directed
  • Sanitize dialysis stations

Requirements

  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) required
  • One-year experience in a health care environment preferred
  • Dialysis experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills preferred
  • Must obtain certification as a Hemodialysis Technician from the National Nephrology Certification Commission (NNCC), Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT), or other approved certifying agency within 18 months of hire
  • If working in North Dakota (ND), must be on the Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) Registry through the Board of Nursing at the time employment begins
  • If working in South Dakota (SD), must register as Unlicensed Dialysis Technician through the SD Board of Nursing once certification is received (within 18 months)
  • Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required through the American Heart Association

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Weekly hours: 32.00
  • Shift: 10 hours, varied shifts
  • Currently not open on weekends

Pay

Salary range: $19.00 - $26.50 per hour
